Grants to Support Knowledge Exchange - Samuel Ross
Samuel Ross, 2025 Grant to Support Knowledge Exchange recipient, shares his experience.
I would like to thank IOM3 for the generous financial support provided in the form of the Grants to Support Knowledge Exchange without which I would not have been able to attend and present my work at THERMEC 2025 in Tours, France, alongside nearly 600 other speakers. This was the 13th instalment of an internation conference series focusing on advanced materials.
The conference presented a fantastic opportunity to present and discuss my work on the application of novel High Entropy Alloys for use within high temperature brazing of high-speed aircraft engine components as part of they HEA symposium in honour of Sir Biran Cantor. The conference also gave me the opportunity to attend a number of talks on the developments in High Entropy Alloys from a number of experts in the field including both Dr Cantor and Dr Jien Wei Yeh, the two researchers who independently discovered and developed the field of multi-component/High Entropy Alloys.
Overall this was a fantastic opportunity, and I am grateful to IOM3 for making it possible. It was an honour to be able to present my work to such a prestigious and international audience, and I would highly recommend for students to apply to the grant for funding where it would aid in the exchange of research knowledge.
