The official publishing partner of the IOM3 journals, Sage, has released its latest Independence with Impact report. Covering the calendar year 2025, the report outlines how Sage leverages their independenceto prioritise support for diverse talent, uphold research integrity, foster an inclusive workplace culture, and reduce environmental impact.

The report highlights include:

  • Investing in a more diverse and inclusive academic future: In 2025, Sage supported several DEI partnerships and contributed to wider learning initiatives, including global education donations, employee tuition support and expanded learning opportunities.
  • Safeguarding the scholarly record: Sage expanded its use of the STM Integrity Hub to help prevent fraudulent submissions and introduced updated policies on citation practices, author anonymity, identifiable data and AI transparency.
  • Reducing environmental impact: Sage reports 2025 emissions of 5,766 tCO₂e across its operations, a 35% reduction from the 2019 baseline, as part of its longer‑term net zero strategy.

IOM3 remains committed to supporting the transition to a low carbon, resource‑efficient society. Guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Institute promotes responsible practice across the full materials cycle and advocates for technologies that reduce energy use, emissions and waste. As a signatory to the Pledge to Net Zero, IOM3 has reduced its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by more than 91%  since 2019 and continues to expand Scope 3 reporting, with non‑investment emissions falling by over 10 tCO₂e in 2025. This ongoing work underpins the organisation’s long‑term aim to reach net zero well before 2050.
