Materials and manufacturing provide significant opportunities to make a real economic, environmental and societal differences and shape societies across the globe. Materials and manufacturing play a vital role in the economies through driving innovation, exports, job creation, productivity and growth. They have a huge central role to play in the drive towards decarbonisation and meeting climate change targets, adopting new technologies and adapting to changing customer demands. Materials and manufacturing provide society with the opportunities to transform, becoming more sustainable and to develop and adopt new material applications to help meet the climate challenge. There will be a need to boost sustainable manufacturing capacity at a global level as we strive towards net-zero.
