You can search our extensive online library catalogue and see if we hold items of interest before you visit.
Loans
If you're a member and live in the UK or EU, we'll lend you most things from the library including reports and maps. We charge postage, plus a nominal amount per item to cover handling.
Literature searches
We can advise you on databases covering materials science and engineering or can carry out a literature seach for a fee.
Data compilation
For minerals industry enquirers in particular, we can also compile statistics, company information and production figures.
Conference proceedings
Selected proceedings and papers from events organised by the Institute are available through our Library Services team.
IOM3 members have access to Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS) conference proceedings via this page.
Standards
You may acquire British and worldwide standards online from the BSI - BSI Catalogue. We have a limited number of older standards (mainly minerals and mining) available for loan.
Engineering Institutes reciprocal library agreement
The IOM3 Library is part of a network of engineering institute libraries who are willing to offer reciprocal library services, including visits in person, to our members. The network includes the following:

Institution of Civil Engineers ICE
Institution of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology IMEST
Institution of Mechanical Engineers IMechE
Institution of Structural Engineers ISE
National Aerospace Library – Royal Aeronautical Society RAS
Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors RICS
We also hold a similar agreement with The Geological Society.
