IOM3 signs joint letter to Government for Chartered Week 2026
The open letter signed is by 42 professional bodies and encourages the Government to champion professional standards.
We're celebrating Chartered Week between 23 and 27 February 2026 under the theme Celebrating Trusted Professionals, to recognise the work and commitment of chartered professionals that strengthen public confidence in their sector.
This year, 42 chartered and other professional bodies have signed an open letter to government offering their support as partners to rebuild trust in key public and business services.
The open letter is addressed to Pat McFadden, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, and invites ministers to take a stronger lead in championing professional registration and chartered status across key sectors.
Professional bodies and chartered professionals play a vital role in raising standards, opening up access to high‑quality careers and strengthening ethical practice across the economy. Recognising and supporting professional status is essential for rebuilding public trust and driving long‑term economic growth.
Our Director of Membership Paul Skerry CEng FIMMM says, ‘Professional registration shows your competence and is assessed by your peers. As a chartered professional, you are trusted to make decisions that benefit society and the public, even when facing day to day challenges in your career.’
The Chartered Week Alliance brings together over 40 chartered and professional bodies representing more than 1.5 million professionals across the UK and around the world.
At IOM3, we’re proud to stand alongside our fellow organisations during Chartered Week.
We participated in Chartered Week 2026 by hosting a webinar on the Road to Chartership for our Student and Early Career members, that will be available on-demand. We also collaborated with our partner awarding bodies, Engineering Council, Science Council and Society for the Environment on a blog, as well as a podcast episode hosted by our Director of Membership Paul Skerry CEng FIMMM.
