Call for Abstracts & Papers
Deadline for submission is 30 June 2026.
Prospective authors are invited to submit abstracts of up to 250 words for consideration for the programme. Abstracts must provide sufficient information for a fair assessment and should be written in English. Please note that as a condition of acceptance, at least one author will pay to attend the conference and present.
Participants will have the opportunity to share their technical expertise and experiences via formal presentations, informal discussions and a panel discussion.
This event will assess the role of underlying science and technology, including characterisation and modelling for understanding and controlling oxidation during high temperature processes for a range of reactive metals whilst drawing on new technology developments and experience from various industries.
Contributions covering the following domains for a range of reactive metals and industries are especially welcome:
-
oxidation and decarburisation theory, reactivity of metals and mechanisms
-
role of coatings in oxidation/decarburisation inhibition and surface quality
-
descaling technology, theory and scale removal, alternative processes for scale removal (e.g pickling, shotblasting)
-
scale properties and influence on processes & product
-
off-line/in-line detection and characterisation of oxide, decarburisation and scale defects
-
modelling oxide scale formation, digital twin and behavior across length scales
-
technologies to minimise and control oxidation with consideration to decarbonisation and green steel agenda
