We are saddened to hear of the loss of John Harvey MBE, who was a prolific part of the mining industry where he wielded his technical expertise, and an avid mountaineer and adventurer.
Peter Haslehurst was a longstanding member of the Institute and its predecessors, having held several positions over the years. He sadly passed away in April at the age of 84.
Sir John Collyear had a key role in several major industry and research organisations and was instrumental in bringing about the merger of the Institute of Ceramics, The Institute of Metals and The Plastics and Rubber Institute to form the Institute of Materials in 1992.
Albert Tuke was recognised for his contributions to the UK coalmining industry. He was a strong supporter of the Institution of Mining Engineers, joining as a student in 1955 and becoming its President in 1993.
We are saddened by the death of Professor Bucknall, a longstanding and valued member of IOM3, who was awarded the Swinburne Medal and was keenly involved in Institute journals.
