They seek to provide 'a clear, high-level overview of the scheme, focusing on what it is, who is involved and what it means for businesses’.

Exchange for Change is a not-for-profit, industry-led organisation responsible for designing, implementing, and operating the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) across England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

They are working closely with producers, retailers, wholesalers and hospitality businesses to ensure the scheme is ‘clear, consistent, and ready to roll out across the UK’.

As Exchange for Change continues to build the scheme, they say to expect more webinars, updates and practical support to keep businesses informed and ready for what’s next.

A DRS is a system designed to increase recycling and reduce litter.

Under the scheme:

  • A deposit is added when a drink is sold
  • The deposit is refunded when the empty bottle or can is returned

Registration for a variety of sessions takes place between 17 February and 19 March 2026 online.
