Mine claims ‘largest and highest’ grade clay hosted rare-earth site in Australia
Critica defined zones enriched in magnet rare-earth oxides (MREOs) in its Jupiter mine site.
The Critica review highlighted multiple higher-grade MREO zones containing neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium and terbium.
The magnet-rich zones contain 640Mt at 490ppm MREO, with a 400ppm cut-off, and around 310,000t in situ. The company claims this is the largest and highest clay-hosted MREO resource in Australia based on publicly available peer data.
The report also claims the site has very low thorium and uranium, meaning environmental, social and governance problems can be overcome.
The Jupiter mine is part of a wider Brothers Project, which is in an existing mining precinct in Yalgoo, Western Australia. The clay-hosted rare-earth discovery was announced in late 2023 and is spread across a 40km2 area.
The site is well connected, being 250km east of the port of Geraldton – a two-and-a-half-hour drive away.
