Metcelerate

Delivering training on mineral processing and extraction metallurgy

The Metcelerate program is a world-class, professional formation program that accelerates the development of technical competence in the mineral processing workplace. Companies sponsor employees to participate. It was developed in partnership with leading mining organisations by a world-renowned team of global professionals with expertise in process design and optimisation, plant operations, and professional development in minerals processing and extractive metallurgy.

The following courses have been approved for CPD:

The Metcelerate Program

An in-depth course consisting of 14 months of online study, supported by weekly live tutorials, followed by a 6-month process optimisation project, giving a total study period of 20 months. Practical plant exercises are integrated into the courses and submitted for assessment by expert instructors, who provide detailed feedback.  The course covers all the essential metallurgist functions in eight core units:
- Mineral processing in the mining value chain
- Process mineralogy
- Experimental design and statistics
- Comminution
- Flotation
- Physical separation
- Hydrometallurgy
- Process optimisation project
Graduates of the program are also awarded the PIABC Level 7 Diploma in Mineral Processing qualification.

10 things that explain mineral processing

A short online, self-paced introductory course for those who need to understand mineral process well enough to engage confidently in discussions, without specialist training. The course explores what really happes between mining an ore and producing a saleable metal and why mineral processing deicsions matter.  The course consists of the following ten modules and takes approximately 15 hours to complete.
1. If you can't grow it you have to mine it.
2. Just because it contains minerals doesn't mean its ore.
3. Mining isn't just digging up rocks.
4. Liberate, separate dispose.
5. Product value is a balance of quantity and quality
6. From concentrate to metal: the plot twist in the mining story.
7. If Plan A won't work, mineral processing has Plans B to Z.
8. Different metals, different markets.
9. The metal you need may already be out there (recycling).
10. Where mining is going - and why it matters.
On successful completion of the course, learners will receive a CPD certificate.
