Have your say: Contribute to a project on wind circularity
We’re inviting members to take part in a new project on circularity in the wind sector.
IOM3 members are invited to contribute to a new project on materials innovation for wind circularity. This is an opportunity to share insights, highlight challenges and shape the transition to a more circular wind sector.
The project will look at all wind turbine components – blades, towers, nacelle, foundations and cables – with a focus on:
- Volumes of materials needed to manufacture components in the UK
- Materials that can be retrieved from decommissioned turbines
- Innovations that extend component lifecycles
- Challenges and opportunities to increase circularity
We are also exploring the wider factors that support innovation, including:
- Skills needed to deliver circularity in the UK
- Policy changes to enable progress
- The role of digital infrastructure, logistics and standards
