2025 YPWLC winner announced

Malaysia finalists wins 20th Young Persons' World Lecture Competition final.

The 20th Young Persons' World Lecture Competition final was held online on Thursday 27 November, with the participation of finalists from the UK, Malaysia, China and Hong Kong:

Hamish Dow | UK - Lights, camera, action: Automated visual inspections of concrete structures

Kouer Zhang | Hong Kong - Closing the Loop: Transforming Wastewater Nitrate into Sustainable Fertilize

Natasya Salsabiila | Malaysia - Aluminum Nitride Thin Film Deposition Using Industrial-Grade Sputtering System: A Uniformity Study

Xiaoxi Zang | China - Study on the Preparation of Poly(arylene-ether-nitrile) Modified Carbon Fibers/Poly(ether-ether-ketone) Composites

Each finalist gave a lecture of 15 minutes, which was then judged by Chair of IOM3 SEC Group Dr Ilija Rasovic MIMMM, vice-Chair of IOM3 SEC Group Dr Michael Kenyon MIMMM and SEC Committee member Dr Matthew Wadge MIMMM. The event was co-ordinated by SEC Committee member Ollie Thomas.

Dr Ilija Rasovic, on behalf of the panel, thanked the finalists for the high level of presentations before announceing the 20th Young Persons' World Lecture Competition winner, Natasya Salsabiila from Malaysia. Second place went to Hamish Dow (UK) and third to Xiaoxi Zang (China).
