Young Persons' World Lecture Competition celebrates 20 years
2025 will mark two decades of the early career researchers and students' participation in YPWLC.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Young Persons' World Lecture Competition, we're turning the clock back to spotlight some memorable winners and their reflections looking back at the Competition.
The Young Person's World Lecture Competition (YPWLC) was first held in 2005 in London, and since then it has been held in several locations around the world on four different continents. Since 2020, the Competition has been held online every year, and this year, it will be held on 27 November.
The winners of the national and regional finals of the Young Persons' Lecture Competition, held in regions where IOM3 has international branches or sister institutions, compete as finalists in the world final. They give a 15-minute presentation on a technical topic of their choice and then answer questions from the judging panel.
For many early-career researchers and students, the YPWLC stage is their first foray into presenting and communicating their research and presents itself as a launchpad for their future endeavours.
We hear from four winners from the past decade who reflect on their journey since winning YWPLC.
