SDC2027 is the fifth in a series of landmark conferences spanning over six decades:

• 1959 – Shaft Sinking and Tunnelling, London (Institution of Mining Engineers)
• 1989 – Shaft Engineering, Harrogate (Institution of Mining and Metallurgy)
• 2012 – 3rd International Conference on Shaft Design and Construction, London (IOM3)
• 2019 – 4th International Conference, Toronto (Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum – CIM)

Now, in May 2027, the series returns to London, once again organised by IOM3, in collaboration with CIM.

The intellectual property of this conference series is jointly held by IOM3 (UK) and CIM (Canada), and the event continues to be delivered for the benefit of the global shaft engineering industry.
