Dr Fiona Robinson FIMMM

Principal Metallurgy, ENODA Ltd

Dr Fiona Robinson FIMMM is Chair of the Energy Materials Group (EMG), Vice Chair of WIM3, and the 2025 recipient of the T B Marsden Professional Medal. 

Fiona is Principal Metallurgist at ENODA Ltd., bringing over 30 years’ experience in electrical steels, metals and materials R&D, and materials processing technologies to their Materials team. She has industrial, research, academic and consulting experience of non-oriented and grain oriented electrical steels, process and product development, data analytics and problem solving. Fiona actively participates in activities related to widening participation in STEM and supporting women to enter and sustain careers in materials.

Fiona has a degree in Metallurgy and Materials Science from Imperial College, a PhD from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Liverpool, and a specialist Technology Management MBA from the Open University. Fiona is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).

Lucy England

Head of Capital Sales Business Development and European Sales, FLSmidth

Lucy England is the Head of Capital Sales Business Development and European Sales. Until recently, Lucy was the Head of Innovation at FLSmidth, where they focused on the MissionZero strategy for mining, specifically targeting emerging technologies to reduce emissions, energy consumption, and water usage for the green transition. As a mineral processing engineer from Camborne School of Mines, Lucy has dedicated over 20 years to the mining industry. Their primary interests lie in sustainable mining, with a particular emphasis on tailings disposal.

Lizzie Driscoll

Assistant Professor in Energy Materials, University of Birmingha

Dr Elizabeth (Lizzie) Driscoll is an Assistant Professor in Energy Materials at the University of Birmingham, with her research now focusing on sustainable, recyclable high power batteries.

Lizzie obtained her PhD from the University of Birmingham in 2022, under the supervision of Prof. Peter Slater, with a focus on novel Li-/Na-ion battery materials and educational resources. Prior to working in energy storage, Lizzie gained industrial experience in the energy generation sector, working on solar perovskites, followed by completion of her (integrated) masters research project in lead-free photovoltaic materials. Lizzie had been a PDRA in the Energy Materials Group for 4 years (in School of Metallurgy and Materials) at the University of Birmingham, chaired by Prof. Emma Kendrick, where she focused on the recycling of Li-ion batteries from electric vehicles. Lizzie is a huge advocate for battery education and raising STEM aspirations. Her efforts have been recognised by a number of learned societies and institutions, such as the Royal Society of Chemistry Inspirational Member Award, the Faraday Institution STEM outreach/public engagement award and the IOM3 Robert Perrin medal for sustained dedication to outreach.
