The MSc Motorsport Scholarship programme is designed to increase representation of graduate engineers from underserved backgrounds in the motorsport industry. The 2026/27 academic year sees eligibility criteria extended and more scholarships on offer.

Backed by Sir Lewis Hamilton MBE and run by the Royal Academy of Engineering, the programme will have more scholarships of up to £43,000 targeting a wider range of candidates.

This follows a a two-year pilot programme established in in June 2022. Funded by Sir Lewis’s charitable foundation Mission 44, the pilot provided financial and career support to two cohorts of young engineering graduates from a Black or mixed Black ethnic background undertaking a Master’s degree in motorsport or engineering discipline.

The new programme is open now with 12 scholarships on offer, eligibility is now being extended to focus on women and/or those from a less advantaged socio-economic background, regardless of ethnicity. Applications close on 4 May. More details can be found here.
