Cornish Tin signs ESG standard

The mining company has signed up to the Tin Code ESG standard for both its projects in West Cornwall, UK.

The miner says this makes it one of a small number of exploration and development companies globally to adopt the standard at an early stage.

The Tin Code, developed by the International Tin Association, claims to set out internationally recognised standards covering environmental stewardship, social responsibility, governance and ethical business practices across the tin value chain.

Cornish Tin says adoption of the code supports the delivery of more sustainable and traceable tin supply, at a time when demand for responsibly sourced critical minerals is accelerating.

The company is advancing the Great Wheal Vor Project group of 26 former producing tin and copper mines, aiming for a net-zero-aligned operation. It has also recently discovered a previously unknown tin mineralisation system at its Tregonning Project, in addition to an extensive lithium field in the rare G5 granite.

Sally Norcross-Webb, Founder and CEO of Cornish Tin, says, 'Our ambition has always been to build a modern mining company that reflects the highest standards of environmental, social, and governance expectations.'
