Project Finance for Renewable Energy: From Idea to Reality
Add to calOnline
Dr Michael Shakib walks us through a renewable energy project from start to finish, showing how an idea develops into something that could realistically be funded. We’ll begin with a simple idea for a renewable energy project and build it up piece by piece. Starting from the early concept stage, we’ll look at how a project takes shape, what questions need to be answered first, where the risks sit, and how the financial thinking develops alongside the technical side. As we move through the session, we’ll gradually add complexity introducing the practical considerations, assumptions, and trade-offs that turn a rough idea into something that could realistically be funded. This session is less about formulas and more about understanding the journey. The goal is to help people see how everything fits together: the concept, the stakeholders, the costs, the risks, and the financial structure. By the end, participants should have a clearer sense of what it actually takes to move from an idea on paper to a project that stands a chance of becoming real. This talk is intended as a grounded, practical overview, drawing together material and showing how the pieces connect in the real world.
