The UK Government's Approach to Minerals and Mining
Lecture Outline
A new UK Critical Mineral Strategy was published in November 2025. A secure supply of critical minerals is vital for the UK's economic growth and security, industrial strategy, and clean energy transition. The strategy sets out the UK’s vision for securing the critical minerals it needs by harnessing the UK’s competitive advantage in midstream processing and recycling of critical minerals, leveraging the UK’s local areas of mineral wealth and deep mining history, and working with international partners to build more resilient global supply chains. This presentation will also cover some of the opportunities and recent activity closer to home in Scotland.
