Get ready to witness young minds shine bright as they compete in the London Heat of the Young Persons' Lecture Competition!
The London Materials Society will host the local heats for the Young Persons' Lecture Competition, on the 10th of March 2026 at City St George’s, University of London.
The Young Persons' Lecture Competition invites students and and early career professionals (from 18 up to the age of 28) to deliver a short lecture (12 to 15 mins) on a materials, minerals, mining, packaging, clay technology, wood science or engineering related subject.

There will be cash prizes to winners and the 1st place winner of the London heat will go on to compete in the South East (SE) Regional Final (Thursday 21st May at The Armourers’ Hall in London), where the winner of the SE final will compete in the National Finals. The winner of the national completion will take part in the World Lecture Competition Final. These dates and locations are TBC.
