Dewatering of Crofty Mine

Add to cal

Chapel Lecture Theatre, Penryn Campus, Penryn, Cornwall, TR10 9FE

Lecture by Liana Dunstone and Owen Mihalop.

To advance Cornish Metals goal to resume mining of high-grade tin at South Crofty, they firstly need to abstract, treat and discharge water from the flooded mine. This lecture will give a fascinating insight into the extensive project that requires approx 8 million m3 of water be removed in order to adequately pump the mine out and enable resumption of tin mining from the deepest levels.

Owen Mihalop is Chief Operating Officer for Cornish Metals and is a Chartered Mining Engineer and graduate of Camborne School of Mines. With over 20 years experience in the mining industry, he has specialised in project evaluation, development and management.

Liana Dunstone is an experienced mining environmental engineer with a broad understanding of the environmental impact of mining operations and their successful integration with environmental regulations, international standards and best practice.
