 Materials supply is becoming less predictable as the world faces greater uncertainty, from regional conflicts and trade disruption to rising demand driven by electrification and new technologies. Many of the materials we rely on are produced in a small number of countries, some of which face political instability or infrastructure challenges. This presentation looks at why materials supply is increasingly affected by global events, why this matters to engineers and industry, and how resilience, responsible sourcing and innovation will be critical in the years ahead.<br />\n
 Christine is the President of IOM3 and a former President and Honorary Secretary of WIMM. She is particularly renowned for her expertise in handling, storing and using cyanide in the gold mining industry, serving as an accredited auditor for the International Cyanide Management Institute. She has a distinguished career spanning diverse and challenging environments, from arctic condtions to desert landscapes and has worked across a range of commodities including base and precious metals and coal.<br />\n
