SUMMARY:Out of the Lab: Materials Solutions for Manufacturing
DESCRIPTION:
Summary of talk:Through a real case study of a critical component, we'll unpack the materials and manufacturing constraints involved in optimising for production. We'll bridge the gap between theory and engineering practice, showing how core materials principles translate directly into manufacturing solutions.
\n

Bio: Rory began a Materials Science PhD at Imperial before leaving to design materials at Alloyed. Now the Head of Engineering at Isembard, a software-first manufacturer for critical industries, he deals with materials problems day-to-day and leads product development.Isembard is the manufacturing company for critical industries. Founded in 2024, we now operate 6 factories between the UK and US making products for aerospace, defence, and robotics. We develop software to orchestrate manufacturing and make our factories faster and higher quality
\n
