SUMMARY:Victor Phillips Memorial Lecture- Bigger is not necessarily better-being the best is.
DESCRIPTION:For much of the last century, mining operations have been shaped by a belief that igger is better&#39; - more hoisting, more capacity, more output. But today&#39;s commodity markets, social expectations and investment climate are challenging this assumption. Size alone does not guarantee resilience, value or safety.<br />\n
 This lecture explores why being the best is what really matters. The focus is on defining a mining operation&#39;s Best Value Option: the operating strategy that balances technical capability, financial performance and societal licence to operate. This process demands deep understanding of the complex relationships from pick-point to port: how technical decisions interact with costs, markets, risk and culture.<br />\n
 The lecture will challenge mining leaders to rethink operating principles, re-engage with the fundamentals of risk and value and empower decision-makers with knowledge to choose what is truly <b>best, </b>not just biggest, for the next chapter of mining.<br />\n
