DESCRIPTION:Andy Birtles is a longstanding member of the Western Institute of Mining and Minerals and has presented papers before to our Institute. Andy is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the IOM3. He sits on the Mining Technology Group Leadership Board, is a IOM3 Mining Industry Strategic Advisor and is also Vice Chairman of the Pan European Reserves and Resources Reporting Committee commonly known as PERC. Andy&rsquo;s paper is titled African Titanium Mining and Associated Environmental Issues and will cover what the metal Titanium is, where is it sourced from, where is it mined, what is it used for with a particular emphasis on the African continent and also the rehabilitation and environmental impacts from the mining activities.<br />\n
