SUMMARY:QA/QC aspects of the cast iron tubbings installed in deep shafts at Woodsmith Mine
DESCRIPTION:Anton is QA/QC Officer for Redpath Deilmann UK Ltd, based at the Woodsmith Mine project where Anglo American is sinking two 1600m deep mine shafts near Whitby in North Yorkshire.
\n

\n
The mine project is to access huge reserves of Polyhalite under the surrounding area and transport it to processing facilities via an underground tunnel at Teesside.
\n

\n
Two of the mine shafts descend through waterlogged strata known as the Sherwood Sandstone, necessitating the use of cast iron segmental tubbing to hold back the water ingress into the mine shafts.
\n

\n
Anton will outline the processes for the inspection and quality control required in the installation of the tubbing segments to the mine shaft, for this highly important section of the shaft sinking process.
\n
